Slap dash my local fashion show

annnnddd my article I did to go with it....

A night out at your local charity fundraiser might not be appear the most glamorous event however, the vintage fashion show at the marine theatre really raised the bar. It was a sell out event with a total of 160 tickets being sold to help raise money for Weldmar Hospice care trust. As soon as the doors opened anyone could tell that this was one glamorous event, with everyone decked out in their very finest and with a glass of wine on arrival it was possible to picture such a scene on the catwalks of Milan.

The theatre was completely transformed in to a magnificent backdrop of what you might call haute décor. A combination of sparkling chandeliers and a flock of ornamental peacocks helped set the scene for a truly fabulous display.

Hilary Highet introduced each decade of vintage fashion with a brief history. We were taken back in time via capsule wardrobes from the early Edwardian era to present day. The show turned out to be a treat for real culture vultures, including pieces from Christian Lacroix to Christian Dior, all modelled beautifully by local girls of all ages.

The clothes were loaned from private collections from around the county and even included pieces designed and made by Woodroffe students. Who knows, maybe Lyme could be responsible for the fashions ‘next big thing.’ All I know is despite being in a totally different world to Paris or Milan, Lyme has got some serious style.
